Nigel's scrapyard. Eric's starting point. Nobody's entirely sure what goes on here.
A place for useful junk, unlikely discoveries and things left unexplained.
WHAT IT IS
The High Scraparral is Nigel's scrapyard and home. It's full of old things that might still be useful, things that probably aren't, and things whose purpose is best left to Nigel.
It's also where Eric wakes up at the start of the story: surrounded by scrap, unsure where he is, and trying to work out what happened the night before.
HOME, OF A SORT
Among the scrapyard's odd comforts are a hut built from scrap, a snooker table on the roof, outdoor chairs, a firepit that always seems to be lit, and a working CRT television.
It may not look like much to anyone passing through. That doesn't mean it isn't home.
THE PEOPLE AND CREATURES
Nigel owns the place. Eric's story begins here. Rufus is connected to Nigel, though Rufus has his own ideas about being a dog.
Exactly how all these lives became tangled together is not something the scrapyard has explained.
THINGS THAT DON'T ADD UP
Why was Eric there that morning? Where was Nigel? What happened the night before?
The High Scraparral has a lot of objects. It also has a lot of unanswered questions. We'll leave the answers where the story finds them.
